A double serving of Contemporary Elders this month. First, a group of us gathered at the Beecroft Art Gallery for the screening of the film “Denim” that shows our Performance Art piece at the opening and closing ceremonies of Rafal Zajko’s exhibition at the Focal Point Art Gallery last year. The screening was exactly one year after the Opening Night. Working with Rafal and his associates had been such fun and and it was a privilege and pleasure to work alongside him as he developed his ideas and incorporated our movements into his work. The dozen or so sessions that he held with us have inspired me and given me self confidence that I did not know I had. And through Rafal I have met amazing artists/ choreographers/performers including Florence Peake, Kristie Richardson and Harriet Pittard. Time and again I am reminded of Dylan Thomas’s lines, “Do not go gentle into that good night, but rage, rage against the dying of the light” and I am raging . . . I am definitely not going gently . I thrive on the monthly activities arranged by Kim for Contemporary Elders at the Focal Point Art Gallery and am truly benefiting. Creativity is vital to my wellbeing.
When I walked into the lecture theatre, guess who was there? Rafal had travelled down from London especially. It was so good to see him and to catch up with everybody.
