New York

May 19, 2017 By Janey Leave a Comment

It is a short flight to New York from West Palm Beach in Florida – just over two hours. However the journey time is more than doubled by the  need to arrive at the airport two hours before the flight. I had a window seat and bird’s eye view the forest of skyscrapers as we descended into La Guardia. My stay in Manhattan on this trip was short and unbearably HOT – over 90 degress. It did not help that everyone kept telling me that this temperature was ‘unseasonal’. Since I arrived at noon I had an entire afternoon to wander around on my own, enjoying the buzz of the busy city and marvelling at the extravagant window displays. I bought a dozen postcards and I knew exactly where to buy postage stamps. There is a post office under the Rockefeller Centre. By the time I had walked down to the Centre I was hungry, so I stopped for a bite at an eaterie. Returning to the hotel I passed police at the foot of Trump Tower. “Is there going to be a parade?” I asked them. “No ma’am, we are security for the Tower.” Oh! Of course! Mrs. Trump and Junior are in residence. In the evening I had supper with Peter at Serafina’s.
